Wolf Sports Newsletter: March is Here

Hello everyone! It’s Bob Digital (@BobbyDigital2 on X), and it's a pleasure to guide you through the betting space with Wolf Sports, just as I’ve done on many recent Wolf Sports Twitter Spaces—especially when it comes to college sports.

For my first newsletter piece, I wanted to briefly talk about something that often gets ignored in the space: responsible gaming.

Now, I’m not going to go full-on preach mode, as I know many don’t want to read that. However, it's a very important aspect of betting.

March is the time of year when many parachute into the wonderful world of college basketball and get excited to “Degen” for some of the best days of the sports calendar with the NCAA Tournament. So, I want to go through a couple of things that will help you both have fun during the month of March and do so responsibly with a few simple tips.

Responsible Betting Tips for March Madness

No Unit Shaming / Bet Within Your Limits

For those unaware, a “unit” is your standard bet size.

Don’t feel pressure to “bet big” because it’s a big game or because you see someone else bet more on the internet. If you get excited over winning $10 (or less), do that. Bet what you can afford to lose, first and foremost.

Never chase losses.

Shop Around for the Best Odds

I don’t care if your betting budget is $50. Please put your money in more than one sportsbook.

Various apps often have different odds providers and, therefore, different prices.

For example, if you like Team A and:

One book has -4.5 (-110)

Another book has -5 (-110)

Take the better number and get yourself the extra half point.

Also, the juice matters. If there’s an option to bet (-110) instead of (-115), take it. These small differences add up over time.

Don’t Overextend and Bet Every Game

The market is generally efficient. If you haven’t been following along all year, you probably don’t have massive edges.

It’s okay to pass a game and just enjoy watching it. You don’t need action on everything.

Parlays: Manage Expectations

I hate parlays for 98% of bettors.

You are now requiring yourself to go undefeated in a defined number of selections.

But if you are going to place them, lower your unit size.

Limit your legs (you aren’t going 16-0!)

And if I’m being honest, expect to lose

If you hit one, great, but don’t make it your main strategy.

Final Take: Have Fun & Stay in Control

We could go way deeper, but I want to keep this casual.

Obviously, everyone’s goal should be to walk away with more than they came with, but please have fun if you are betting this March.

Don’t ever let betting become a must-do or a burden in any way.

March Madness Future Bet: Texas Tech Final Four +500

Now that you’ve read the heavier stuff, allow me to give out one Final Four Future for this year’s NCAA Tournament.

If you listened to the Wednesday afternoon space last week (LINK), you heard me give Texas Tech at 7-to-1 to make the Final Four.

That number has dipped to around 5-to-1 in the market, and I still like it (shop around!).

Bracket Matrix projects the Red Raiders as a No. 3 seed

KenPom Efficiency Metrics: Top-30 in both offense & defense

Battle-Tested: They’ve had numerous games without key starters and still put up elite numbers

This team has a great starting five led by JT Toppin and a slew of experience at the top of a roster that I think is primed to make a deep run in March.

Bet: Texas Tech Final Four +500

That’s it for this week. Thanks for reading, and enjoy March Madness.
